Weekend in Cannonville

I can definitely say that this past weekend is the most fun I've had since I've been in Utah. Actually the most fun I've had in a really long time in general. Thursday during class, Haleigh got the idea to take a mini road trip to Cannonville. We decided we would have Kyle drive and we could all chip in for gas. I didn't think we would actually go, or that Kyle would actually go for it, but he was way excited. Of course Haleigh didn't want to be the third wheel so she asked around to find a fourth party to go with us. It took sometime to find someone else, which made us kind of nervous because we didn't want to pay more for gas. Zach couldn't go because he had to work. We convinced Seth to take off work and come, which he was going to, but then he felt bad for missing work. So back to Zach. We had to do some serious begging, but we finally convinced him. We left around 4:30 Friday. It was only a four hour trip. The town on Cannonville probably has a total of 100 people in it. It was so small! We didn't have any cell phone reception, which was kind of nice, and I'm pretty sure we were the only ones staying at the Grand Staircase Inn. Our hotel was the biggest building in the whole town, which isn't saying much, but it was a pretty nice hotel. Friday night we didn't do much. We wanted to get to sleep early, so we could do a lot on Saturday. Saturday morning, Haleigh and I got ready while the guys went and got breakfast. I discovered that I love strawberry cream cheese. We picked the perfect weekend to take this trip. It was such a beautiful day on Saturday. It was sunny and warm. We started our day by climbing up some big red canyon thing. It wasn't too bad of a climb, until Haleigh wanted to climb to the bigger white mountain behind it. I got about half way up and couldn't do it. I forgot how afraid of heights I am. Somehow Zach and Haleigh went all the way to the top, and still managed to beat Kyle and I back down to the car.

Then we went to Mossy Rock. One side was a cave with the biggest ice sickles I've ever seen. On the other side was a waterfall. It was so pretty! Of course We had to climb to the very top, and then down to the very bottom. Zach insisted on knocking over everything he could. He was always trying to push over rocks and icicle. I would like to say that it felt good to get dirty. Haha. I was so muddy when the whole deal was over. Our next adventure was to find some waterfall that Haleigh had been to when she was like 10. Wait, this might have happened before mossy rock, but I don't remember. Anyways, Haleigh wasn't positive she knew where this waterfall was exactly. Our first mistake was driving down a dirt road that had a road close signed posted.

We were doing fine until we got to a stream we had to cross in Kyle's little Honda. Haleigh said a prayer that we would be able to "cross the mighty river." Well we got across it alright! Somewhere along the way, Kyle lost the bottom of his car. Haha. We spent a good hour driving down that old dirt road when we came to a part that we knew Kyle's couldn't get over in his car. Haha. We lived on burritos and peanut butter and jelly the whole weekend. Saturday night we went out and looked at the stars. I have NEVER seen so many stars in my life. I saw two shooting stars..which was awesome because I had never seen one! I probably could have sat out there all night had it not been so cold. Sunday we attempted to hike back up the white mountain, but it was way too windy. I had sand everywhere by the time the weekend was over because of the wind blowing so hard. So instead of going up, we went down. I think it was harder getting down inside of the canyon. Zach had to coach me to get me to come down, but it was so cool inside the canyon. Kyle and I ended up having to go through someone's yard and jump their fence to get out. It just made the whole thing that much more interesting. I'm so glad I got to go on this trip with my amazing friends and boyfriend!

And So it's True

"I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together." -Marilyn Monroe I love this quote, and it's very true. I hate change, but sometimes it's for the better. This first week of school was interesting. I really like all of my classes. Especially marriage prep. My teacher is way funny and I think I'm going to learn a lot of things I will use for the rest of my life. That's what makes a good class, when you can apply the things you learn to your whole life. So I just need to rant for a moment..I'm extremely tired of doing so much for people and them thinking I am mean to them all of the time. I don't know what that's about. Yes, I am very moody sometimes and a little bipolar, but for the most part, I'm too nice to people. I enjoy doing things for others, but if they don't appreciate it, I don't really have to do anything for them. I guess I'm just not much of a people person and living in this house, I'm always with a bunch of people it seems like. That's all. Anyways, Ali let Haleigh and I borrow her car yesterday, so we thought we'd go to Chipotle, which is about 20 minutes away. After about 40 minutes of driving down the freeway we realize we didn't merge onto I-80...We had just been going down I-15. We were in American Fork. How did that happen?! We called Kyle and he gave us directions to where he works. I guess getting a free pizza in the end was worth it. We watched Despicable Me last night. I love that movie, it's so cute! Kyle and I finished season one of Bones. I'm totally addicted to that show. I love waking up early. My day feels so much more productive. Oh the other day Andrew took Haleigh and I to IKEA. That store is so cool. When I have my own house, I want all my stuff to be from there. Then somehow we got him to take us to Provo. We hung out with one of his friends from the mission and I got to see Brian Martin! I cannot believe Forever 21 didn't schedule me once this week, but they have the nerve to call me just now and ask me to come into work..nope.

Old Habits Die Hard

How is it that I couldn't even get through my first homework assignment of the semester without being so distracted. All I have to do is read chapter one from my English book and I've only gotten to page four. I've probably  been sitting here for about 15 minutes. So I finally got half way through the reading and I had to stop again, because I literally cannot keep my eyes open. I'm not sure if this book is extra boring or if I'm just extra tired. Done with that assignment. I still have to read a chapter for psychology and write a paper. I think I'll put that off until after I take a short nap. I think I'm actually going to start rewarding myself when I do hard work. Like I just finished my English homework so I'm going to chill out for a minute and write this blog. I think that will help keep me sane. I have three new roommates now. Susan, Natasha, and some girl who told us to call her Jay because no one can remember her name. They are all way nice. Natasha is from Ukraine..how cool! And Jay speaks like five different languages. So my classes are going to be a lot harder than I thought this semester. I know I will like them, but there is going to be a lot of homework. My English teacher seems really funny. He started out the class on Monday by saying, "My names is Brother Gagon, like a homosexual pistol." I think I'm going to like him. Plus he said English 201 is a lot more fun than 101. My psychology class is a lot bigger than any other class I've had. There were people who didn't have anywhere to sit. I mean I think there were people who came in that were still on the waiting list, but still. Oh oh! Kyle got me the CTR ring I wanted for Christmas. :) Anyways, communications is going to be fun. Haleigh is in that class with me. I think I will be able to keep up in my math class this semester. If I can't keep up in this math class I'm in big trouble, but my teacher seems like she's going to take it slow. Marriage prep is going to be awesome. It's going to be a lot of work, but I think it will be worth it. My teacher is hilarious. We have to go on a date, go to divorce court, and some other ridiculous things to pass the class. We have to rate the date we go on and one of the choices is "I had a terrible time. I hate you Brother King! May your soul rot in Hell!" That would have to be one BAD date. Another choice I thought was funny is, "What a great assignment. I think I've met my eternal companion." If we get engaged to someone in the class we automatically get 5,000 points out of 4, 915. Too bad someone isn't in that class....I thought of a few things that are really going to help me do well this semester...
Go to church every Sunday
At least show up to every ward prayer/FHE/fireside
Go to every devotional
Do my homework the night before it is due
Read my scriptures before I do homework
Get a math tutor
I had some more in mind, but now I forget. So today I spent close to three hours at Walmart. My roommates and I went and one of them decided to take two more hours than the rest of us to shop. Her phone was off, we couldn't find her, and we even called her over the loud speaker. Low and behold, she bought groceries for what looked like a family of seven. No joke. But I didn't buy a single frozen dinner, yaya me! Forever 21 didn't schedule me once this week, so I'm going to be very poor. I really need a new job.

Back to Utah I Go

So once again I'm blogging in the airport. Well last time I was actually in the air, but I'm pretty early for my flight and my phone died. So here's the deal...
There is a man sitting a few feet away from me blowing through a straw making an extra obnoxious noise. Yes a grown man.
I went through the full body scanner at security..nuf said.
I just finished all my Christmas shopping a couple hours ago.
When I land I will have been up for almost 24 hours. I went to seminary with my brothers this morning for some unknown reason.
It will be two a.m. Ohio time when I land, so I'm either going to be dead tired or I'll be up all night.
I keep forgetting that after my flight to Detroit I still have a four hour flight to Salt Lake.
I have to pee. I refuse to use the airport bathroom and especially the airplane bathroom. So I guess I will hold it for about six hours. No big deal.
I was sad when I got out of the car and said bye to my mom, but I'm really excited to go back.
I think I forgot my toothbrush.
Two new girls moved into my house today. I'm nervous to meet them.
20 more minutes.
I hate that the flight predictions are later than they actually are. I bet my layover on Detroit is a lot longer than it says it is.
I'm not used to typing on my iPod anymore because I'm so used to my phone.
My foot is asleep.
That's the extent of the exciting events in my life right now.

New Years Resolutions

I must say that New Years resolutions are pretty overrated and lame. So this year I didn't just think about one little resolution like usual. I'm going to make a list of just general things. I'm not going to say something like lose ten pounds or stop eating fast food, because we all know that never works out. But here are somethings I am going to try my BEST to do:

Maintain a 4.0 GPA.
Smile more.
Read the scriptures every day.
Not miss church.
Better sleep schedule.
Be a good example to everyone.
Don't sweat the small things.
Meet new people.
Be more outgoing.
Study as much as I get on facebook.
Do the things I want to do.
Eat healthier.

Where Did 2010 Go?

Wow. Where did the year go? Seriously...It seems like just a couple months ago I was a freshman in high school waiting for June of 2010. Everyone told me time would go so fast and I would be out of school before I even knew it. I didn't believe it until now. This has been one of the most eventful years of my life. My life was so incredibly different this time last year. There were people in my life this time last year that aren't anymore, and I wish they were, I made mistakes and learned from them, and I took a lot of chances that I wouldn't have done before.
